The Norwegian Labour Party has over the past seven years managed to run both the Justice Department and the Police Directorate into the ground. After the devastating judgment by the Gjørv Commission, there is little glory to be had. I guess if we checked the rest of the departments the result would be the same.
The system is steeped in camaraderie where close friends of the party leadership hold top jobs often regardless of background. The last Police Director who was hired went out into paternity leave and recently new staff advisor to Prime Minister Stoltenberg is 24 years old and comes from the party’s youth wing – No wonder it all goes wrong!
